This is indeed a fantastic film, gripping from start to finish. I decided to buy it on Blu Ray after reading some of these reviews because of that fact, but have been sorely disappointed. I spend a lot of time defending BR from people who can't see the difference and everything I've bought so far has been demonstrably improved. However, with this film, it's really not easy to see. Yes, in the slow sections, the occasional long shot, you can find yourself thinking that it's slightly improved, but the impact is definitely muted. For such a great film, it's a real let down not to be impressed by this. If you've got the DVD, stick with it.
